Are you interested in tapping maple trees in the backyard or getting started in small-scale commercial maple syrup production? 

Mr. Stephen Childs, New York State Extension Specialist in the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University; will be the presenter. The workshop will cover a variety of aspects of maple syrup production including: 

  • why make maple syrup
  • tree identification
  • tree health
  • tapping
  • sap collection and handling
  • boiling
  • energy efficiency
  • finishing and grading syrup
  • canning
  • marketing
  • regulations

The program will be targeted for beginning and small scale maple producers as well as homeowners looking to tap a few trees in the backyard or someone wanting to start small-scale commercial maple production.

Walk-ins may be turned away if registration has closed or maximum participants has been reached; so register early!
