Seedfolks Community Read Celebration

  • Thursday, June 21, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Come and join us on Thursday, June 21st from 6pm to 7:30pm in the South Seneca Middle School Cafeteria for a celebration centered on the book “Seedfolks”. If you haven’t read the book yet, there are many copies available to be checked out at the Edith B. Ford Memorial Library in Ovid.

The book is a series of stories told by a diverse cast of characters living on (or near) Gibb Street in Cleveland, Ohio, each from a different ethnic group. Chapter by chapter, each character describes the transformation of an empty lot into a vibrant community garden, and in doing so, they each experience their own transformations.

The celebration on June 21st will include a discussion of the book, painting kindness rocks, sampling local foods with beans being the highlighted crop, free seeds to take home to plant your own garden and a visit to the Ovid Community Garden to see what’s growing there.

No registration is required, just come, bring the family and celebrate your community, local foods, gardening and diversity at this event hosted by Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension, Edith B Ford Memorial Library and South Seneca Schools.
