To create a greater understanding of practices occurring in today's agriculture, three agricultural operations in Seneca County are inviting the public to learn more about how farms are striving to remain profitable while being compatible with the environment and aid in efforts that benefit water quality.

The host farms are Peachey Farm, Citadel Ranch, and Wagner Vineyards. The tour topics will feature growing mushrooms commercially, prescribed rotational grazing and manure management, erosion control in vineyards, and a discussion about the costs associated with implementing water quality practices.

The tour concludes with a glass of wine or beer, appetizers, and dinner at The Ginny Lee Café at Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery.

Those attending are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes for moderate walking on potentially uneven ground and bring a chair if needed for extended periods of standing.

The host farms will be joined by Cornell Cooperative Extension Specialists from the NWNY Dairy, Livestock & Field Crops Team, Finger Lakes Grape Program, Cornell Vegetable Program, and Seneca County Soil & Water Conservation District, as well as other agriculture industry related professionals.

Organized by organized by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County (CCE Seneca), Seneca County Soil & Water Conservation District, USDA NRCS and FSA, Seneca County Farm Bureau, and Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association.
