ABOUT NYS 4-H SHOOTING SPORTS PROGRAM
The NYS 4-H Shooting Sports program utilizes the resources of the land-grant university system and the time, talent and dedication of state and nationally certified Cornell Cooperative Extension educators and 4-H volunteers.
Safety is always the primary focus of the program, along with positive youth development skills. The emphasis of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens.
The activities of the 4-H Shooting Sports program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth and conservation ethics. Some of the specific objectives of the program include: teaching self-discipline, problem solving, sportsmanship and appreciation and understanding of natural resources.
The shooting sports program is also an opportunity to strengthen families through participation in lifelong recreational activities.
