Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) collects no personal information about you when you visit one of our web sites, unless otherwise stated and unless you choose to provide this information to us. CCE does collect and store the following information automatically in its web server logs:
The Internet Protocol (IP) address of the domain from which you access the Internet (i.e. 123.456.789.012). This may be the address of your personal computer or an address provided as a proxy by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), the date and time you accessed our site, the URLs of pages that you view on our site, the name and version of the browser software and operating system of your computer, and the Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to our site.
We use this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors, by assessing what information is of most and least interest, and for identifying and troubleshooting system performance problems. In addition, cookies are small files that may be written to your computer’s hard disk by this web site while you are visiting us. These are used solely for the purpose of managing your session on our site (such as maintaining viewing preferences that you may choose as you move from page to page). Some CCE sites may offer you the choice to be recognized as a returning user from visit to visit and to have content from certain areas of interest collected for you. This kind of feature is also managed by cookies and will only be active if you select it.
The details of the information just described are NOT shared with anyone beyond the support staff for this web site except as may be required by law enforcement investigation. Contributors to this site’s content, program directors, and marketing professionals are given access to this information only in the form of anonymous summary statistics.
Information provided by you You may choose to provide us with personal information, as in an email message containing your comments or questions. We use this information to improve our service to you or to respond to your request. There are times when your message is forwarded, as email, to other CCE employees who may be better able to help you. Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, we do not share your email address or sell email lists to any other outside organizations.
Transmission of sensitive information, such as academics records, history of electronic transactions you may have had with us, or credit card information, all takes place over encrypted connections (HTTPS/SSL) to our server to prevent interception en route. Credit card transactions are performed through a third-party financial service provider (Elavon Payment Services) and no credit card numbers are stored or retained on our servers.
