​Summer Nutrition Educators

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County is seeking 2 temporary summer nutrition educators to serve in Seneca County and Ontario County. Applications accepted on rolling basis until position is filled.

Position Summary for Seneca County:

This temporary position will serve for 4 months (June 1st to September 30th) and will deliver nutrition education to SNAP and SNAP eligible adults and youth in Seneca County, particularity at Farmers' Markets. This position is 35 hours a week, $15/hr. (CLICK HERE for more details)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Health Education, and/or Public Health. Associate’s Degree plus 2 years transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
  • Experience relevant to role of the position.
  • Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons to target audiences in group settings, and work with diverse audiences of all ages.
  • Must be able to purchase and prepare foods, utilizing business expense account and pragmatic use of resources.
  • Must be able to review and follow recipes and assure compliance to federal and state guidelines.
  • Ability to carry supplies and equipment, climb stairs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work independently and to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
  • Basic computer and word processing skills.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards and DMV check.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
