Gardening Information at Local Libraries

Gardening Info at Local Libraries

Looking for some information about gardening? Look no further than your local library. All of the libraries in Seneca County now have a display and fact sheets on pertinent garden topics. The Master Gardener volunteer program of Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension has partnered with Seneca County Farm Bureau to have displays and handouts related to gardening and all five libraries in Seneca County have graciously agreed to provide space for the displays. The displays are at your local library now and will be changed at the start of each month through October. There will be information on how to contact a Master Gardener if you have questions so someone can contact you.

The current display for May features information on planting your garden, mulching and composting. June’s display will feature weed management information, good and bad bugs and watering. A fact sheet on selected vegetable varieties for our area is also available at each location.

In case you are not familiar with all of the wonderful libraries in Seneca County, they are: Waterloo Library and Historical Society at 31 E. Williams Street, Waterloo; Seneca Falls Library, 47 Cayuga Street, Seneca Falls; Edith B. Ford Memorial Library, 7169 North Main Street, Ovid; Lodi Whittier Library, 2155 East Seneca Street, Lodi; Interlaken Public Library, 8390 North Main Street, Interlaken. Stop by one of them soon to pick up some fact sheets and pick up a contact card for the Master Gardener hotline that you can post on your bulletin board in case you run into any gardening or landscape questions throughout the year.

In the meantime, Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension can be reached at 315-539-9251, via email at seneca@cornell.edu. Like us on Facebook for the latest news and events.
