Time:  Workshop is from 10am to 11:30am, followed by lunch that is provided. Following is the woods walk from 12:30pm to 2pm (Agenda below)

Cost: $5.00 per person which includes lunch.

Location: Workshop will take place at the Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) officeand the woods walk will be on private land approximately 15 minutes from CCE.Carpooling will be available.

Attendees are asked to dress for the weather and wear boots or shoes suitable for walking on woodland trails. Participants are encouraged to bring note taking supplies and a water bottle.

What is the Master Forest Owner (MFO) Program?

The Master Forest Owner program provides private woodland owners of New York State with the information and encouragement necessary to manage their forest holdings wisely. Over 140 experienced and highly motivated volunteer MFOs are available statewide, ready to assist neighbor woodland owners with the information needed to start managing their woodlands, through free site visits to landowner’s properties.

Join us for a comprehensive overview of the Master Forest Owner (MFO) Program:

  • NWNY Regional Director of the MFO Program, Laura Bailey, will discuss the MFO program and how to join the team. 
  • Seneca County CCE Agriculture Extension Educator, Judy Wright, will provide a presentation focused on tick habitat, their biology and control.
  • Invasive Species Educator, Brittany Lagaly from Finger Lakes Partnership for Regional Invasives Species Management (FL-PRISM) will discuss the impacts of invasive species on the native forest ecosystem. 
  • Local MFO volunteer, David Morabito, Jr. will guide the woods walk and lead us through the experience of meeting with a MFO volunteer.
