Therapeutic Nutrition & Cooking Workshop

  • Thursday, December 8, 2016, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Eating healthy when you have a health issue can be complicated. Did you know that food is medicine and can be used as therapy? Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrine disorder, which produces hormonal imbalance in women. One in ten women are affected by PCOS while 70% of infertility issues are attributed to PCOS. It expresses itself as a collection of symptoms, which include insulin resistance, intense carbohydrate cravings, inability to lose weight, amenorrheoea, oligomenorrhea, infertility issues, depression, anxiety, hypoglycemia and/or hyperlipidemia. You may not experience all these symptoms/conditions to have PCOS. Continued long-term effects of PCOS on women develop into infertility issue in young women and a higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease in older women.

You will leave the workshop with the following knowledge:

  • Understanding what PCOS disorder is and how it relates to: insulin resistance, hypoglycemia, inability to lose weight, amenorrheoea, oligomenorrhea, depression, anxiety, infertility issues and hyperlipidemia
  • Identify which foods harm you
  • Identify which foods heal you
  • How to set up a daily and weekly menu plan
  • How to cook 4 easy recipes which you get to sample in class
  • Create 2 delicious drinks that will skyrocket your health to a new level
  • How to prepare yourself for the week so you don’t fall off track mid-week

This class is for you, if you have any of the above listed symptoms, have a family member who suffers from PCOS, is unaware if you have PCOS, want to learn how to cook therapeutically. You do not have to be diagnosed with PCOS to attend this workshop.

Please join Sue Petersen, Clinical Nutritionist, as she shows you how to therapeutically cook for this type of condition. With Sue’s training and culinary expertise she will show you how to create delicious nutritious meals.
